The sun tried to filter through a layer of cloud
leaving a soft light on the fields that have been ploughed
a wagtail and woodpecker with undulating flight
and a lone buzzard was the sum of our birdie sight

I have nothing much to say on my blog
except that Jan, and I weathered the blast
and we both ended with a very wet dog
blustery hundred mile an hour gusts pitted with hail
broken branches littered the road, and yet again a soggy trail

It drizzled on us by the lac today
the water matches the sky, a smoky grey
the only sounds were of Mallard, Pochard and Coot
as we walked our  slightly soggy route

Wednesday, 26 February 2014

Back to wet and cold, and our familiar less muddy, road track
round to the black pigs and them a double back
Milou is happy that both Marc and I are out
no matter whether flood or drought

Tuesday, 25 February 2014

Our walk takes us up to Larroque and beyond the lac
we pick up Pom Pom near his home and halfway up our track
from nowhere a big roe buck bounds
across the stubble and now barren ground
he zig-zagged the field, then headed straight for us, across the road
i guess he has no particular abode
to the deer, the dog and us, it was a nasty fright
but their leaps and aerobatic bounds were still a beautiful sight

It is the end of february, but it feels like a summers day
bees are a humming and butterflies float our way
trees are now in bud and the hawthorn about to flower
tiny white pin pricks dot all and every bower

We are up in the woods beyond Auch to play
as Marc and Paula fancied, the city for a drawing day
a bastide town just beyond was where we were drawn
we had to stop and not go on
an amazing church with an unusual helix tower
and a beautiful town to look at and devour
