Hike-ku's
poetic meanderings with milou
Saturday, 18 January 2014
Waiting in the car park, desolate and needing a friend to play
as soon as i opened the door, she got out, they both raced away
apart from a tractor and the noise of the birds on the lac
we did not see or hear anyone on our side of the track

The day is beautiful and on our journey we wend
following a river and all of its bends
milou is happy with a brand new place to explore
all is snuffled out or dug out by paw
the sound of the water and light on the trees
truly magical for marc, milou and me

Milou is young and often disobedient and a real pain
this afternoon, i call her time and time again
but she is off hounding down the track
hop, skip and a bound, not even bothering to look back

It's muddy and wet, but we are giving it a try
clouds of plovers take off into the sky
coots, mallards, pollards, and grebes to name but a few
but the un-named diver, seen yesterday was not on view
if anyone know's what the bird is, i'd love to know

It is much the same weather wise and we have a class until midday
a couple of hours after, and the rain is being chased away
the clarity of the landscape is crystal clear
but today not one mountain did appear
Monday, 13 January 2014
It is dull wet and grey
a complete contrast with yesterday
we spot a mystery bird
it is still and silent close too, as if it cannot be seen or heard
when i get home, i will take a look
and try and identify it in my book

Unbelievable it was like late spring, it was so very hot
as we drove and walked to our favourite spot
the heron and egret were out for fish
while Marc and i were recalling our most favourite dish
